Our Ethnic Communities

Our Ethnic Communities are diversed and have grown considerably. According to Statistics New Zealand Census 2001 report, there has been significant increases in the numbers within particular ethnic groups between 1991 and 2001.

The ethnic community in New Zealand comprises of Chinese, Indians, Latin Americans, Greeks, Koreans, Arabs, Somalians, Iranian, South Africans, Russians and many more.

The Office of Ethnic Affairs work alongside these communities providing advice and community capacity building opportunities to increase their civic participation in the New Zealand society.
