Policy & Guidelines
OEA Policy provides the Minister for Ethnic Affairs with advice and information on policy matters as regards the Ethnic Affairs portfolio. This information covers:
- the 'Briefing to the Incoming Minister for Ethnic Affairs
- Ministerial correspondence;
- requests under the Official Information Act and Ombudsman’s enquires;
- Parliamentary questions;
- ethnic sector groups and events; and
- OEA status reporting.
OEA Policy supports the Minister for Ethnic Affairs and provides other government agencies with supporting advice on policy and service development. We are often asked for advice on how ethnic perspectives and issues facing ethnic communities might be taken into consideration.
OEA is small organisation which means that the Policy team, Language Line staff and Ethnic Advisors work closely alongside each other. This enables the Policy team to utilise the information that the Ethnic Advisors gain from communities.
