String of Natural Disasters
Within the span of five days the South Pacific, specifically the Philippines, Indonesia, American Samoa and Western Samoa, has been devastated by a string of natural disasters.
The Office of Ethnic Affairs gives full support and sympathy the to those who are affected by these shocking and sudden natural disasters.
There is a tremendous amount of suffering in the South Pacific after the recent string of disasters. As New Zealanders, we are all linked through our communities to the Samoan, Tongan, Indonesian and Philippines tragedies and we can all be inspired by the strength of community shown in the recovery efforts to date.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families of those who have lost love ones, homes and businesses in these tragedies and are struggling to cope with displacement and loss.
