Ageing affects families as well as individuals – relationships between the generations, expectations of care and support (up and down the age groups). But what if migration was another element in the mix?
Retirement migration and trans-national families are part of the ageing environment. This presentation explores these issues, with reference to recent research with the Indian community of New Zealand.

Dr Judith Davey was Director of NZiRA from 2002 to early 2007 and is now a Senior Associate of the Institute of Policy Studies at Victoria University. Judith’s personal focus for research is the ageing of the population and its policy implications.
